Shelducks are a species of the Anatidae family and, as half-geese, belong to the Geese. Complicated? Well, ducks and geese can be easily distinguished on the basis of a few characteristics, but if a species in the order of geese has the characteristics of both lines, it is referred to as half-geese. We have seen and photographed these colorful and eye-catching shelducks in many places. The photos show shelducks in Brittany, on Bornholm and on Neuwerk, the island off the mouth of the Elbe in the Hamburg Wadden Sea National Park (NPHW).
