With some preparation and a valid passport, it is possible to get to North Korea from Seoul - for a few steps across the border.

In Panmunjeom, a military settlement in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea, where the end of the Korean War was negotiated from 1951 to 1953, meetings are held in the "Blue Pavilion" between North and South Korean delegations.

The area is closely guarded by United Forces soldiers, and from the South Korean side, this area is accessed via a US base.

Taking photos is not easy here, you want to get meaningful pictures, but the group we were with was very considerate.
