Chambord Castle is the largest castle in the Loire Valley. It was built in the first half of the 16th century under King Franz I as a ceremonial and hunting castle near Chambord and is considered the most magnificent of all Loire castles. (Wikipedia). In 1996 we took the first photo trip along the Loire - without a smartphone, Booking.com, Google-Maps, Google-earth etc. - and without booked accommodations. So it was always adventurous whether and where we would get accommodation at the travel destinations. Sometimes it worked so well that we were able to get a fantastic view of the planned photo motif directly from the room we received - so here at Chambord Castle too. Thanks to the perfect location of the accommodation, we were even able to take a picture of the famous castle from the top floor in front of the dramatic storm clouds with a framing rainbow from an ideal perspective (see Fig. 7).

The tour shows interesting building structures, such as the open staircase, which impresses with a huge double-flight staircase that runs all the way to the roof. Her design is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. This staircase opens into a ciborium-like open lantern. From this Wendelstein, four large corridors emerge on each floor in a cross shape and orthogonal to the sides of the square.
