Trail running at the 70th degree of latitude in Norway

Trail running in winter requires appropriate clothing and shoes and, if you are traveling far north, a headlamp as well. At the Solenagen fjord close to the 70th parallel in Norway, the sun no longer rises over the horizon in winter and the two hours of twilight during midday quickly dim as soon as it starts to snow.

The running route shown here ends - actually - at the outermost point of the headland at a lighthouse from which you can get high up into the heights. Today a blanket of snow around 60 cm high was an insurmountable obstacle.
