The unusual orchestra Casco Phil together with the impressive "drone show" by AndLights provided an impressive highlight as part of the multi-day event "Cultur Splash" from September 19 to 22, 2024 in Mechelen, a cultural city in Belgium located between Brussels and Antwerp.

The theme was water and so the iconic Water Music by Georg Friedrich Handel was on the program as well as the Carnival of Animals (Le Carnaval des animaux) by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns from 1886.

The 200 drones above the concert stage accompanied the Carnival of Animals as a "swan" or, as "instruments", directed the attention of those present to the corresponding musicians with their appropriate entries.

Of course, the performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony from 1822 to 1824 was indispensable at the end of the successful event. Like the grandiose choral finale of Schiller's "Ode to Joy", Casco Phil turned the symphony into an ode to Europe during the performance in Mechelen. The drones formed an impressive representation of the EU flag.
