Castle Chambord on the Loire

What happens when camera technology advances? One would prefer to visit all former photo motifs again to take technically better photos. Well, that played a role in the second photo trip to the Loire castles in France. After we had recorded the first series on Fuji film with a Nikon F90x in 1996 and later digitized it with a Nikon Coolscan V-scanner,  we went along the river Loire  in spring 2017 again, now equipped with with a Nikon D810 and a Nikkor 24-20mm /f2.8 lenses.

The weather conditions were excellent - thanks to the bright sunshine with small white clouds against a blue sky, we were able to photograph Chambord Castle in excellent lighting conditions. In this way, photos with long exposure (gray filter, 30 s) as well as infrared and HDR images could be realized.

In this article we mainly show HDR images that were created from 3 to 5 photos composed using Photomatix (special presets) as well as Lightroom (as close to nature as possible). We will present the infrared images in a following article.
