The timing of the workshop “Basics of NFT for Artists” by the Düsseldorf Cultural Office on December 5th, 2023 in Düsseldorf could not have been planned better. November had already started with a rally in promising cryptocurrencies and now, at the beginning of December, new highs were also seen on the NFT marketplaces. After months of bear market conditions, the mood in the crypto world had now become euphoric again and the pleasing consolidation of the past year has made it abundantly clear that fast food works of art produced by popcorn machines on the various NFT marketplaces have little chance of generating the hoped-for income for their creators.
Against this background, it was of course a particular pleasure to spend an exciting four hours introducing some Düsseldorf artists to the topic of NFT (Non-fungible Tokens) on their shared journey into the crypto world.
Quality is now increasingly gaining ground in NFTs in the crypto world and artists are well advised to first acquire the necessary knowledge in an appropriate manner in order to be able to place their works of art safely and successfully in the crypto world. On the other hand, this also prevents them from falling into the hands of scammers, who often lure poorly informed and unsuspecting artists into their perfidious traps on Instagram and other social media platforms.
In the run-up to the workshop, pictures were submitted by the participants to the Tenckhoff photo archive. The material was used to create a collage with an appealing and thematically appropriate story for the Cultural Office's NFT workshop. This resulted in a unique asset that was perfect for minting as an NFT on the artist marketplace “Foundation”.
The collage was made by Dr. Jürgen Tenckhoff created and the works of the following artists were used (order according to position in the collage)
The NFT from the workshop can now be seen on the Foundation and OpenSea marketplaces:
Foundation: https://foundation.app/@Tenckhoff/workshops-fotoarchiv-tenckhoff/1
OpenSea: https://opensea.io/assets/ethereum/0xecd620dd3499f4506bcc43de42a713052ec15eb7/1
The collage tells the story of a little tapir who is not afraid to embark on the complex journey into the crypto world in order to find his way around it easily and safely after good preparation.
As a reward he will receive an NFT. And not only that, he is also believed to be contributing to the first-ever NFT funded by a cultural agency in Germany. Respect, the culture and art city of Düsseldorf is now one step ahead when it comes to entering the metaverse.
