As we wait in the lounge for our next flight, we take a moment to reflect on our first impressions of Dubai – a city that seamlessly blends ancient culture with futuristic architecture.
One of the highlights was our ride on a traditional boat across the Dubai Creek. With the gentle movement of the water, the bustling life on the banks, and the soft evening breeze, we caught a glimpse of the Dubai that once was – long before the rise of skyscrapers and mega malls.
Wandering through the old town, we found ourselves in a maze of narrow alleys full of history and craftsmanship. The visit to the famous Gold Souk felt like stepping into a tale from 1001 Nights – glittering displays, ornate jewelry, and a magical atmosphere that invites you to marvel.
Another unforgettable moment was visiting the Burj Khalifa. In the evening, we watched the breathtaking fountain show – a vivid display of light, water, and music that dances against the night sky. Just across from it, inside the Dubai Mall, we encountered the famous waterfall adorned with diving sculptures – a space where movement becomes pure elegance.
We stayed at the Hilton Heritage Site in Al Seef, nestled along the Creek. This beautiful area pays homage to the old Dubai with its traditional architecture, clay facades, and tranquil courtyards. Al Seef winds along the waterfront like a reborn Berber town, perfect for strolling, taking photos, and simply enjoying the moment.
Dubai was the perfect start to our world trip – a city of contrasts, of brilliance, but also of deeper cultural layers.
