The three-dimensional effect of holograms is particularly impressive when the viewer can move around and see the holographic motif from several sides. If you photograph holograms, you inevitably only depict one viewing angle and get a two-dimensional impression.

For this article, we mounted holograms on a rotating body and let them rotate slowly around the vertical axis when illuminated with parallel light. The holographic motif was recorded as HD video with a Nikon D850.

The white light and rainbow holograms used were created in 1978 in the holographic laboratory of the chair for theoretical electrical engineering at the Ruhr University in Bocheum in order to investigate special holographic recording techniques.
