Claude Monet – The Master of Impressionism
Claude Monet (1840–1926) was a French painter and one of the leading figures of Impressionism, an art movement that focused on capturing light and color in everyday scenes. Monet revolutionized painting with his focus on the changing effects of light and fleeting moments in nature. Famous works like “Impression, Sunrise” (1872), which gave the movement its name, and his series on water lilies and the Rouen Cathedral are internationally renowned. Monet spent his later years in Giverny, where he painted the water lily ponds, which became some of his most famous works.
